An important tradition returns to the Syracuse Juneteenth Festival this year: Miss Juneteenth and Little Miss Juneteenth Pageant. This year’s organizer invites the young women of the region to join a long line of young Black girls across the country who have taken home the coveted crown home. The girls in this year’s pageant will display and be judged on their talent, their presentation in an evening gown, their public speaking and their character. For contestants, it’s a pageant and a place to celebrate Black sisterhood and promote a deeper understanding of coming into age as a young woman.
